- •Breeder Seed Sugarcane Production Program: The programme is proposed to be run by G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, on the farms of its subordinate research centres. Under this scheme, breeder seed production of the latest sugarcane varieties will be carried out. At sugarcane research centres, 25% of breeder seed nurseries will be established in autumn and 75% in spring. As per the allocation by the Sugarcane Department, a subsidy of ₹100/- per quintal is provided to the institution for seed distribution from these nurseries. Based on the average yield of the district, 50% of the subsidy will be provided for agricultural inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides at the time of sowing in the nursery, with the remaining amount payable upon seed distribution.
- •Establishment of Base Nurseries: It is proposed to establish base nurseries. A subsidy of ₹50/- per quintal will be provided for sugarcane seed distribution, with a maximum limit of ₹15,000/-.
